FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At Optimise Therapy, we understand that beginning a new treatment can raise many questions. Our goal is to ensure you feel informed and comfortable before your first session. Below are answers to common inquiries we’ve received over the years.
What happens during the initial session?
At the beginning of the session, you will be requested to fill out a brief health questionnaire. This will provide me with an understanding of your overall health and fitness, as well as any existing health conditions that may be relevant to the therapy. Following that, we can have a conversation about any specific detail, to ensure you receive optimal results. This initial consultation typically lasts around 10 minutes and will be included as part of your introductory session.
What should I wear during the treatment?
Before the session begins, you’ll have privacy to prepare. For female clients, it’s recommended to undress, keeping your underwear on, and remove your bra to allow unrestricted treatment of the back area. Once ready, you’ll lie face-down on the treatment table and cover yourself with a provided fleece blanket. I will knock before re-entering to ensure you’re ready and appropriately covered.
Which areas of my body will be treated?
Our comprehensive treatment addresses the entire body, excluding the genital areas. Special attention is given to the hands, feet, abdomen, and head. Throughout the session, you’ll remain covered with soft fleece blankets, exposing only the area being worked on, which will be covered again once finished. For female clients, the breast area will not be massaged and will remain fully covered to ensure comfort and privacy.
Is there anything that I should do before the treatment?
Please remove any jewellery and hair accessories before your session to allow unobstructed access during the treatment.
Will the treatment be uncomfortable or painful?
Our therapeutic treatment is more intensive than a typical gentle massage. If you have deep-seated tension, you might experience some discomfort as we work to release it. We’ll discuss your comfort levels and preferred pressure before starting, and I’ll check in with you throughout the session to ensure you’re comfortable. Initially, there may be mild discomfort due to surface tension, but with subsequent treatments, this should decrease as we work deeper. Focus on the relief and well-being you’ll feel afterward.
What can I expect after the treatment?
Reactions vary among individuals. Some feel an immediate boost in energy and lightness, while others feel relaxed and inclined to rest. The treatment often releases toxins trapped in your muscles, so it’s important to drink several glasses of fresh water afterward to help flush them out.
Is it normal to feel tender the day after the treatment?
Experiencing slight tenderness the day after treatment, especially in areas where deep tension was addressed, is common and not a cause for concern. Any soreness should subside shortly, and the benefits of releasing built-up tension outweigh this temporary discomfort.
I'm training for a triathlon. How can this treatment benefit my preparation?
Triathlon training often leads to Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). Incorporating effective deep-tissue treatments can reduce DOMS effects and soreness by up to 30%. Regular treatments are essential, and Optimise Therapy offers a unique approach compared to other sports massages. Our treatment addresses the entire body, working in harmony with your body’s natural healing mechanisms, enhancing circulation, and accelerating recovery from activity, training, or injuries. Integrating this treatment into your training routine provides numerous advantages, including:
- Eliminating lactic acid buildup from exercise.
- Enhancing blood and oxygen circulation to muscles.
- Breaking up developing scar tissue in muscles.
- Improving muscle flexibility and range of motion, leading to increased power and performance.
- Boosting lymphatic fluid flow, aiding in healing.
- Relaxing contracted muscles from repeated use.
- Maximizing nutrient distribution by increasing blood flow.
- Reducing injury risk through deep tissue massage, stretching, joint manipulation, and proper race preparation.
- Shortening recovery time after training sessions.
Including Optimise Therapy in your training routine can significantly support your performance and well-being.
Can I bring a friend to my treatment session?
Absolutely! I can arrange for a chair in the treatment room for your friend. However, I kindly request that your companion only observes without engaging in conversation, so I can fully focus on providing you with the best possible treatment.
